Greg M. All the the 350's I was ever around did have a live PTO. We only sold one 350 Diesel in the shop I worked at and I belive the engine was a Continental Diesel which I don't remember much about. The butterfly in the injection pump is a good question, the only thing that comes to mind is the setup Perkins used on some of their engines. They had a butterfly [like a throttle plate in a carb] in the intake manifold and used the differential pressures to control the injection pump operation. If this one is missing I would wonder where it went if infact it was in the manifold. Should be someone out there that knows for sure about this setup.
