Can I put a farmall 300 engine in my H?

I have a real nice stuck H, and know of a good 300 engine for sale. I was told the blocks are the same, but they have different casting numbers. I was told the 300 engie will bolt right in, but I would have to keep the RPMs down. I looked it over and they look the same. I just wondered if anybody ever tried it before, or if was even possible.
