If you plan on storing it, I'd also put the hand hole covers back on & fill the block FULL of oil. Waste ATF would do the job nicely, if you have access to any. Leave her set - oil will keep water out. By filling it full, I mean fill through the top of the head until it will not hold any more. I did this with an old 6 cyl chev car & let it set for about 10 years. Drained it, let it set w/drain plug out for about a week so everything was out of the block & head, put on a new filter, put in 6qts of 10W-30, cleaned the carb, brought a fresh battery to it, cranked it over with the plugs out for a while & then started it. Smoked like crazy for a while, but would take less than a quart to a thousand after that-same as before. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
