Wiring alternator on H w/mag

I want to put an alternator on an H that I am fixing up to replace a generator that is shot. I found a small diameter alternator which fits up under the hood. In order to wire this I 'believe' one wire must go back to the on off switch. I am copying all this from a M that I have that is wired this way and works fine. Problem is the M has a two wire on/off switch(has a distributer, not a mag) where this H has a one wire switch. I want to avoid a second switch to make it look more correct. Is there some way I can wire this through the four position light switch? Any ideas appreciated.
