Scott, Where is this tractor located? I saw one like you are describing at a show in central Minnesota and called it a BN. Now here is the scoop on the front and rear configurations. Farmall and International A. Has an adjustable wide front end, that is mounted offset to the engine. Has a "long" trumpet on the RH side and no trumpet on the LH side. Thus the offset configuration. The rear wheel center on the RH side is cast iron, and the center on the LH side is stamped steel. (The heavy RH center is to better balance the offset.) Farmall B and BN (B Narrow). IH supplied only a narrow front. (These are row crop models). No wide fronts were supplied by IH. Have both rear trumpets of the same length. (BN has shorter trumpets then the B, but are still both equal in length. Both trumpets are the same length as the RH trumpet on the A). Both rear wheel centers on the B & BN are stamped steel. So yes you have a "morf'd" tractor, but it sounds like it started as a B or BN. It may have been created for some special application or it may have had the trumpet break and also ruined the shaft inside. By installing the short LH A axle the bull gear housing could be directly connected to the diferential housing, thus eliminating the trumpet on the LH side.
