Mabey I am not understanding your post, but it almost sounds like all you need is a small can of ether, which would fit within the bracket you are talking about. Go find another IH diesel tractor to look at, so you can see how the system is set up and what you need. You should be able to get parts at your local Case-IH dealership. An 806 shouldn't need ether unless it is very cold. I would reccomend you get a tank heater or a block heater. 361 and 407 diesels never had glow plugs and never needed them. Two six volt batteries in series will give 12 volts, will give you more reserve power, and will give the cold cranking amps listed on one battery (example- if both batteries are rated at 500 CCA, they will put 500 CCA to the starter). Two 12 volt batteries in parallel will give 12 volts, less reserve power, but will give twice the cold cranking amps listed on one battery (example- if both batteries are rated at 500 CCA, they will put 1000 CCA to the starter). It all depends on the tractor and how you use it. If you start it, stop it, start it, stop it all day long, never really giving the batteries time to charge, then go with the six volts for the extra reserve power. I would reccomend you go with six volt batteries with lots of cold cranking amps, because it sounds like you need the reserve power since your 806 is hard-starting.

We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
