Tim, I think Harold is talking about the "Fast-Reverser". It was an option on 340, 460, 544, and 656, I think, and possibly other models. Tractors equipped with it would still have the 5-speed, and the Fast-Reverser would be ahead of the trans., where the TA would usally be. Now I've never operated one, or even so much as seen a tractor equipped with the Fast-Reverser, but it is covered in Ken Updike's book "International Harvester Tractors 1955-1985".
