Don't know anything about 7700 ford. But there is a big difference in the 2 706'6 the D282 will not stay with the D310 that does not say the 282 is no good it just means the D310 has more cubs heaver engine 282 has the glow plugs the D310 doe not. The D310 may start hard if it is not 100% on rings and valves and there is different piston to help this if it has the newer pistons should start better. the D310 is a good engine IH used it in 706 756 826 786 886 and some of the 30 sieres tractors. 3488 3688 715 compines. should get 80 HP. out of 310
