I would say it depends on sentimentle value of the tractor. I have my dad's H, He did not buy it new but i still think of it as his and it would be very hard for me to part with it. There are alot of stories out there about people restoring family members tractors out of shear sentiment.
The other side of the story is pure economics, If the M runs and you need to use it now, buy it, if you have some time to pratice your hobby skills, then by all means by the two and restore away!
