When the engine quits, have a spark tester available to test if you are getting spark or not. If spark is missing, look for a loose wire or poor connection somewhere between the battery and the ignition system.
If you still have spark, then have a squirt can with a small amount of gas available and inject a little into the air cleaner connection at the carb.
Think of this as a detective would and examine all the clues to get a proper conclusion.
