756 Rear Main Seal leaking

My cousin has a 756 with a conservative guess of 15000 hours on it. Yes, 15 thousand hours!! It has never been overhauled, so needless to say it looks like an oil sprinkler. The question is, does the tractor have to be split to change the rear main seal, or is it a rope-type seal like the ones found on older Chevy and Ford engines? Thanks for the help.
