Charles: I cabn't remember that sound at 12 years old 58 years ago. Actually I was plunked in the seat of W4 in 1948, pulling wagon and old loose hayloader. My grandfather was knocking boys on load over when he dropped the clutch out. W4, H and later 300, nothing to write home about. I always liked the 282 diesel sound much better. Then again may be I'm so deaf today I can't tell the difference. I have had a 130 since new, never noticed the difference. I went through a number of years, never on the old Farmall gassers much. I liked the 100 hp Deere better as it was quieter. When you are spending 16 to 18 hours a day in the tractor seat and 06, 56, 66 IH and Deeres of the same era came along, it was awful easy to forget those old gas Farmalls, it would have been easier to forget the old Deere gassers. I do know what it s like to plant corn 48 hours non stop other than to eat, in the field.
