I have had ATV'ers ride through one of my alfalfa fields many times, even when I was on the tractor cutting it. This field is on the edge of a city development, and has corn/soybean fields bordering it. I stopped one young fellow, with two kids on the ATV with him, and asked why it was alright to ride in my alfalfa but why didn't he plow through the corn and bean fields (waist high)? He responded that they were crops and would be damaged but this was only grass... I assured him he should watch how well that "grass" cut after he mashed it down, and to watch his matted wheel tracks the rest of the summer. I don't know if he did, but I did. And the tracks of those I didn't catch. And you wonder where kids get ideas like this with parents like that.
