I've found that fences don't work, they cut or run them over, signs do no good either, they usually run the fence over where the sign is attached. I've had the best luck by taking a 5 pound box of nails and leaving them out in the weather for a week or two, after they're good and rusty, I spread them out on the ground in their favorite trailways. They don't get very far before they get a flat. It's some redemption, and I don't have to be there to get justice. The nails are easy to clean up with a roofing magnet. I usually only have to do this during hunting season, seeing as how someone has gone through great lenghts to steal three of my treestands. Police don't seem to care. One fortunate law in Michigan is if you catch a trespasser, you can keep their vehicle, atv, motorcycle, etc. I haven't tried that yet, but the mention of it keeps them from coming back.
