T-4,T-5, and the TD-5 were made in the Hamilton Ontario works starting in 1959. The T-4 had a 123 motor; the T-5 had a 135; and the TD-5 had the British build BD144 motor. These units were a 4 or 5 roller frame; 38 48 or 68 inch track center to center; 5 speed transmission; optional 3PH, remotes, TA or reverser,PTO, etc. Most options from a 340 tractor found their way to the T series. Blades and loaders were offered. My father had a TD-5 with a seven foot blade. The PTO units were all 1000 RPM. Available was an external reduction box to 540 RPM. I remember having the TD-5 on a 56 forage blower at a 65 foot silo blowing corn silage. The little BD144 was in I shall say excellent tune. We would keep a 986 on the harvester going with 3 forage boxes. The TD-5 smoked a steady plume over half the height of the silo; and the oil in the PTO reduction gearbox would boil. Also used the TD-5 on the square baler and did plowing with 4x12 trail plow . After the farm was completely tile drained the TD-5 went down the road. There were many T series sold here in Quebec but they have all disappeared. Sometimes a John Deere 40 420 or 430; Oliver OC; or the rare Case 300 310 appears.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
