Had the same problem. Turned it upside down and soaked it in PB Blaster. Then put it in a Vice with the Jar up and with it riding on the rim edge of the top and only tight enough to keep it in place I put a strap type oil filter wrench on the jar. The vice kept the top from turning and the strap conformed to the jar and put on even pressure. This worked for me, I hope it does for you.
