KB: I am quite aware of what you are saying, and without measuring I would say 1-1/2 " would be conservative. You probably have measured so I will not question that. Since reading your post I went down to a neighbours this afternoon. He has an 856. Frame rails and clutch housing are same width, so 66 series definately wider through torque tube. I stood behind that 856 for a bit, and it may well be the difference between catagory 2 on 856 and 3 on 1066 giving an optical illusion. It is close to 10 years snce I've been around these tractors much, so I'm just going from memory. That 856 looked small between the axle carriers to me. The only two of these tractors that I have owned were 1066 and 656. The only other real close up experience was the time my friend tried to mount my PTO driven hydraulic pump on his 966. Fit was not even close. One other time I was asked by organizers of a tractor pull to take a walk through the tractor line up looking for irregularities, in stock classes. I did spot a 966 with 1466 decals on it. A few of those had the 436 and this one had a turbo added. I spotted that by axles and rear end and there again it may have been the hitch Upon closer inspection the tag called it a 966.

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
