IH had that diesel cranking 64 hp in the 674 in 1975. I also see looking at some specs on 84 series 684 is 239 cu in, 784 is 246cu in and 884 is 268 cu in. Those are probably all the same block, and if it will fit under hood of Farmall 544, the possability of it fitting a SM, 400 or 450 should be good.

Back 10 years ago those 84 series tractors with cabs were going up in flames quite regularly. I remember a tractor wrecker near me having 5 of them he bought from insurance companies. He looked at rebuilding them as open station tractors. Too much to change over. He said every tractor wrecker in the country had these. I don't know if these blocks were exactly same as one used on Farmall 544 as the 84 series had no frame rails, block may be different.

I just throw this out if you are interested and very likely someone will have the answer as to whether these diesels would fit older 4 cylinder Farmalls. One problem I see is finding a place for hydraulic pump.
