If you have the correct level of oil in your transmission, you don't need to drain the transmission to change the PTO seal. Just park the tractor front end down on a fairly steep slope. Then remove the bolts that hold on the seal retainer, remove it and change the seal. I did my MD this way, and it did not leak any fluid at all.
