You said you have fast hitch so you should have about 16 gal per minite and 1600 PSI. It will splite wood if you have the right sixe cylinder. I have see this guestion before on here wood is hard to splite, but no different than any other hyd system if the pressure and cylinder bore not right it will not work, back in the 60's a C farmall would lift a load of beens when most other tractors would not.
