I just did it to my 400. Seems to run just fine. A puller friend strongly advised me to put one on. Another friend put one on a IH 300 that he uses for grinding feed and then hauling to another farm. He said that there was a hill he had trouble getting up in road gear before the change and now it is no problem getting over the hill. If your elec system is in perfect shape now, maybe not that big of a differance. However, most are 30,40 50 or more years old and are worn. I went with the complete unit from Denny's carb shop. I wasn't too happy getting hooked for the shipping because I paid with a credit card (and didn't want to wait the 2-3 weeeks for my check to clear). They will try to sell you everything else elec on tractor too. Good luck!
