Hermit & Farmall man II, Thanks! I checked my valves and all are about 0.020", cold. Some are snug, some looser. It jsut seems a lot easier to do this on a cold engine. Would there be any advantage to trying to fine tune those settings? For instance, I used to fool a lot with air cooled VW's. And I drove them. Valve settings were 0.006" all arround. If the intakes were set at 5 1/2 and exhaust at 6 1/2 to 7 they would run better with a little better fuel economy. Any thoughts on this for the M, say 17 on intakes and 18 on exhaust? Not a big deal. I don't farm for a living and depsenability is far more important than peak performance. BTW I have forgotton the valve order. With valve cover off, from front to back, is it EXHAUST, INTAKE, INTAKE, EXHAUST and then repeat the pattern? thanks again dave
