Hi, I have posted for the same problem in the past. There are a lot of people here who know more than I, but maybe this will help. I only run my machine in the summer, so in the spring the water has settled to the bottom. I can loosen the plug and get out a lot of water with out loosing the gear lube, perhaps a 2 cups. It gets mixed in when the machine is running so you can't do this unless it has set for a couple months. A neighbor who milks about 100 head has 6 or 7 M & H's. He puts antifreeze in the trans case. He has one machine that got a big hole busted in the bottom from ice. I think I will go to draining the case in the fall into clean 5 gallon buckets which will go in the heated garage. In spring I will skim off the lube and dump it back in. dave
