Distributor firing order on my '46 A...

I'm puzzled. From reading this board, I've learned that the #1 pin in the distributor should be the upper right corner when looking from the rear. Even the distributor cap has a marking that says this. However, my A fires the #1 cylinder at the lower left corner and it runs like a champ...Smooth as silk. How can this be?
I'm puzzled as to how my distributor got this way.
Have any of you guys come across this? Since its running just fine, I don't intend to mess with it. I'm just curious as to why it is this way.
