I re did two of the tractors on the farm about 15 years ago. I used the Motorola alt. units for AMC cars. The little 35 amp units work great and are tiny. There is a little block with three or four wires that plug into the alternator. You must have this. Also hook up the idiot light s it makes the circut in the control work correctly. Pulled both units from cars in an older junk yard and the cars had Six cylider engines. They still work to this day! 300 U and 460
