Robert, you are right on the location of the filler cap and th petcocks for checking the oil are on the same side on the oil pan as the cap. The right side if you are on the seat. The capacity is 6 quarts,there are two types of filters a long and short both my H"s use the short filter,IH dealer would need to know which filter you have,also make sure you remove all the old gasket.I use 30w detergent oil and while filling open both petcocks when it starts coming out of the lower one close it and slow up on pouring till it runs out of the top one then its full.
