Reread your question and missed a couple of things. Of course the muffler is silver (unpainted by you). The mainfold was red, the paint just burns off, The radiator was probably red, the red you find on the core may be overspray through the grille, don't know how they painted that. IH sort of just closed their eyes and painted -- not the best job in the world, but cheaper that way.
