If that is the case of firing late how much do you have to turn the crank to get impulse tripping. The gear must be off a couple of teeth. If you are sure #1 is on compression and not exhaust stroke you will have to turn the gear backwards a couple of teeth until #1 is in proper position to fire at TDC.
