It takes a bunch of parts to install the low low speed option. If you could find a parts tractor that had it it would be easier to change out the whole back end. You need a new counter shaft with integral 1st gear on it. That's because the gear is too small in diameter to key on the shaft like the normal gears and must thus be machined as part of the shaft. Since first and second gear on the counter shaft are normally made together as one unit, you need a new second gear for the counter shaft that does not have the 1st gear on it. You need a new sliding gear for the first gear, plus various other parts, including new reverse idler, since it meshes with one of the gears you change, and the list goes on. I suggest you get a parts catalog and study it. You are looking at essentially total disassembly of the transmission. Easier to just change out the whole back end.
