There are two trains of thought here. There is the purest, thou shalt not modify Farmalls design. And then there is the realists. I have decided to place a relay in line with with the new style lights that will make my tractor more funtional than original. Due to the draw the new lights have, it is likely that it will burn up the original light switch. The design I have come up with is simple. I use the hot ignition post on the ingnition switch, I pass the wire to a inline fuse, and then I pass it thru an on/off switch on the console, then I pass the circuit to the hot post of the relay pick curcuit. The other side is of the relay pick circuit is ground. Then I wired a hot wire from the battery post to a inline fuse then to once side of the terminal post on the relay, out the other side of the terminal post on relay I ran it to a buss bar for distribution to the lights I wanted. For the rear light I drilled the case and put a separate on off switch so I can turn off the hite light when I driving down the road - It's a good idea to have the red lights showing when your driving down the road. The only thing you need to whatch is the amount of current that flows through the pick side of the relay. Most automotive relays have a resistance value that picks the relay and keeps current flow to a minimum. ALso you can find the iginition wire by back tracing from the coil. Hope this helps.

Today's Featured Article - An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership, ... [Read Article]
