Glad you got it running with a mag. Depending on the height of the domes on the pistons they wont start with a mag as a mag fires on TDC and you cant change that without putting on a different base. Wheras a dist can be advanced to fire before TDC. Both systems will run around 32deg advance when running. You wont gain anything except maybe better starting by going to a dist. I have both and cant tell any difference but do not have any with real high comp. Did build an engine with CONFORMATIC fire crater pistons and high comp head it would not start with a mag but starts great with a dist.
