I have fixed several brass floats using solder.Be sure to get all the gas out and clean the area super good! Don't use too much solder, just enough to seal it. Too much solder will change the weight and that changes to float setting.If you have to , file off the excess carefully. I just used a regular 40 watt soldering gun. A good way to get the gas out is put the float in the fridge till it gets cold (don't let the wifey see it!) and take it out holding the crack or hole down, as the gas inside warms up it expands and forces almost every drop out! I just hold it in my hand to warm it up, stove might be dangerous.
