Corky,
You really need a 12V fuel pump. If you check the local wrecking yards, you should be able to find a pump from a Japanese pickup that will work. Try early to mid '70's Toyotas, Nissans (Datsun) or Mazdas. These are external to the fuel tanks. Once the manufacturers switched to fuel injection, the pumps went inside the tanks and you can't use those outside the tank.
