The TA in a SMTA was an option. Not all SMTA were sold with a TA yet were called SMTA. The SMTA w/o TA had the same housings as the ones with. SM & SMTA were different tractors, besides the TA. SMTA also had a ILPTO whereas SM had LPTO. Easiest way to tell is to look at the distance between the gas tank & steering post, the SMTA will have a greater distance between due to different transmission housing.
