Dave: I took the carb off my 140 yesterday, and my needle valve is bad allowing gas to run right through, and of course flooding the engine continously. My new screen in the sediment bowl must be catching all my rust flakes as I saw no evidence of any rust in carb. I had my suspicions about the needle valve earlier as I noticed gas smell around the oil bath breather a few times. Also when I changed oil in breather there was gas in old oil. My tractor ran well the number of times I had it going during rebuild, probably 5 hours in total. The little excursion I took it on the other night was the first time it was really out moving around at any speed, The bumps and vibration probably ended the needle valve. My reason for blaming the rust before removing carb was back a few years ago my SA was much same kind of case in that it hadn't been used for awhile. With the SA the rust went right through the screen in bowl. I suspect the SA had a break in screen, I know it broke up coming out. With 140 I put a new screen before I ever started it. So once I get parts this am, and put it back together, it should be just a matter of dumping the bowl daily for a week or two.

"It's a tough little tractor, although it's a hard starter being a diesel and all." He did manage to get it running, compliments of a can of ether. Once started it putted along pretty good. It
