Hey Fudd - Not sure what that camshaft is made of! However judging from the spall next to the keyway on mine (punch below for photo) it tooks like steel to me. I believe those threads are 3/4-16 UNF (fine) left hand if memory serves. Going into my old mech engineer's handbook it says that thread size should be tightened anywhere from 127 ft-lb (SAE grade 0-1-2 low carbon steel) to 250 ft-lb or higher (SAE grade 7 or 8). However from a practical perspective as long as the cam gear is kept tight on the hub while running, any clamping force beyond that accomplishes nothing. Consequently tightening the nut to 30 ft-lb or something would probably work fine. Let me suggest this: Tighten the nut to whatever "feels" right - maybe 75 ft-lb - and let 'er go. ...Bob M
