On my 1942 A, there is a oil slinger gear in the main transmission. This slings oil into a trough cast into the right side of the transmission case, from there this trough runs front and rear to oil the main (top) shaft bearings and continues back to the belt pulley bevel gears and keeps that chamber filled to the proper level.
I understand those early oil slinger gears were pot metal that fell apart after a while.
