anytime you use a hydraulic cylinder it will be returning oil back(except ram/ one way cylinder being extended out) example when extending a two way cylinder it is returning oil from the rod side and when retracting the base side is returning oil. The valve body is designed such that returning oil is sent to the return line to the resivour. A one way cylinder/ram has to have mechanical pressure to return to closed position, weight of implement, springs, gravity etc.
