Rick, addressing the good and bad points of the 574 my comments are: These are IMHO good tractors. They are tough and reliable. I have two, one of which for 20 years(2874 hours on the clock). No major problems ever. These tractors have a good weight to horsepower ratio and are extremely capable in their class. I have not know of a dissatisfied owner of one of these tractors. As for the bad, the brake master cylinders are prone to leak internally. It is essential to keep clean hydraulic filters on these tractors. The fuel tank on one of mine is bad to have rust accumulate at the fuel cutoff outlet and when the tractor looses power this is the fault. And most of all, you must be careful when dismounting as your hip can knock the transmission shift lever from neutral in to gear. I have seen a lock out device made to hold the shift lever in neutral and definitely it would be of great benefit. With good maintenance practices and a dry storage area the tractor should give you many years of service.
