I would first clean out the air passeges in the radiator. Sometimes they will fill up with dirt and dust and what have ya. You can ussually blow them out with a air hose or rense by squirting water through with garden hose. Would have to be pretty clogged up to create overheating problem. Ussually if you can see through the passeges, that is not the problem. Second, I would drain radiator. Catch the coolant in a container and see how dirty it is. Radiator might be clogged up on the inside. You might be able to flush it out yourself with water but a radiator shop can do a much better job if they take it apart and rod it. If radiator is not clogged, it might be the timing. Had a tractor one time that slipped timing, and I had overheating problems after a length of running time. Incorrect timing can cause overheating. Not sure if the 180 thermostat is correct, but I wouldn't think it would cause overheating problems. It has to be installed right (spring side toward engine).
