AW46 is industry standard hydraulic fluid. AW= Anti wear, 46=viscocity grade. AW46 is not the problem in & of itself. though it may not be the right viscocity for your application. but a mix of different fluids may be causing some problems. Your foaming issue sounds like an air leak into the suction side of the pump, most likely, or a pump cavitation problem, not enough fluid to the suction side. either way these problems are very harmful to a hydro pump, as they create heat due to the absence of liquids, resulting in heat & wear on the pump. check all line connections, & gaskets etc., and replace the filter(s). Sometimes there are screens in the lines that can be plugged also. from your description break open all suction connections & check for obstructions. As to the fluid choice on a complete refill, Hy-Tran is good stuff, but if you use a bulk AW oil make sure the viscocity is good to your application. Also Lucas hydraulic booster is good stuff to use on a lightly worn pump, once the foaming issue is addressed. My 2cents& worth even less. Good Luck

Flax provided the fibre which w
