Jim: You have a puzzler there. Where is your water pump situated. 140 should be on fan hub. Earlier engines had the water pump on the lower block outlet and a 3rd pulley was used on fan belt with a separate generator pullies and belt. This could be apropriate, as the C-123 engine was used in SA1, SC, 100, 200, 130, 230, 140 and 240. C-123 engines would all have separate identification. So the old formula that applied in letter series tractors goes up in smoke. However by my count they should have been at about 165,000 - C-123 engines by the time your tractor was built. It would seem reasonable your engine was built around 1956. I have never checked my engine serial numbers. I will in morning and let you know results. I have 3 tractors SA, 130 and 140. My 140 is serial number 22157, quite close to yours. I will get back to you tomorrow.
