Ok, Thank you fellas. Kinda hard for me to believe that lil motor could do much damage but I was at low idle when this all came about too. Just figured no matter it would kill the engine but I will heed your advice. One comment you made KB got my attention that I wanted to ask you about. You said to always make sure, till I get this shift lever built back up, to let the clutch out slowly. Ever since I got this tractor that is the only way to drive it or end up doing a "burn out". What I mean, is that is the touchiest of clutches I have ever used in my life. If I try to let off of it like I do my chevy, ford, or even the 460 or 706 it'll grab and yank and snap your neck. Are all the 400's this touchy with the clutch or do I need to do some adjusting? It really holds good and I got the feathering to make it grab easy figured out now. Just isn't as forgiving as the other two tractors I Mentioned. Thank you guys for the help. I wondered if that wasn't what happened but didn't know for certain and to be honest, as solid as it feels (Tighter than some others stickshifts I've driven be it pickup or tractor) in the gear and as nice as it does shift, I was bothered it was something else. Take care Rich

Since this can be extremely difficult, you may want to fabricate the item or purchase a modern replacement temporarily, but eventually, you s
