i think you hit on a trend not only in working on a farm, but physical labor in general. i grew up on the farm i live on now. so did my father, his father, and his father. it's not a big farm, but there is always something to be done which is all physical. put someone who isnt use to physical work into that kind of environment would definately give them a different perspective. for me, it is just peaceful even though i sweat alot. at the end of my days of getting to work outside, i know i have accomplished something and have plenty to show for it, along with the patience i had to see the end through. maybe...just maybe, if legislatures would spend about a year on the farm, they would not only gain a new respect for the farmer, but have a whole new outlook on life in general.
