Hi Ben, No, the spout on the 484 is about 5" long and the water was at the bottom of it before (and after) blowing a bit out. I've only had the 484 for about 2 months so i'm still learning about it. I'm presuming the temp guage is working OK (it gets up to just below mid point but no further), although I've not tested it. The radiator cap is a bit weary though, I'm wondering if this was the cause. I've already ordered a new one. I think the cause may have been simply due to running it pretty hard and then just parking up and shutting down without idling for a while to allow the temps to stabalise. It certainly was hot 'cos there was a bit of smoke coming from the casing around the hydraulic pump which had been given a thorough workout by the mower (8' finishing mower in grass that was a bit long).
