Depends on if and how badly the steering box leaks. If no leaks then Hy-tran is fine. Small slow leaks 90wt, extreme leaks synthetic grease. Two things to keep in mind, the steering box is a seperate component from the actual power steering. The 340 uses a power assist system. The mechanical components of the system are the same as non power steering. IH then added a 'hydraulic booster",[the best way I can think to describe it] to the system. The "booster" runs off the tractor hyd. system. The steering box remains a self contained resevior to lube the mechanical steering component. I have never seen one yet that did'nt leak to some extent, just a matter of how badly. You do not want the steering box to run dry [very expensive] so keep it filled with whatever works.
