If you need to replace the front seal of the PTO housing you will have to drain the rear end and pull the PTO. I would think that would be good idea, but tha tis up to you. If not around the shaft is a plate with I think three 3/8 cap screws behind that plate is a nut and lock you will have to remove before you can remove the big plate. but the little plate has the back seal in it. Don't remember how many cap screws to hold the PTO in place I think four. Hope this helps
