There is no seal. The hub is designed to circulate the oil and keep it in there by centrifugal force. The correct oil level is with the little standpipe on the bottom with oil up to the top of the pipe. You fill it with oil with port turned to the side and then turn it down to let it drain to top of the standpipe. When you reassemble, make sure you get the slinger ring in the same way it came out. That's the little piece with the spriral gooves in it. If put in backwards, the oil won't circulate and the hub will lock up. You can get a new aftermarket fan assembly with sealed ball bearings for around $100. However, it won't last 50 plus years like the one you have which will likely last another 50 if serviced with oil every few years.
