Diana: That is exactly it, You must use even in warm weather. The tractors with glow plugs were no different. I can remember my 560 and 656 both with glow plugs, even if they sat for half hour in haying season, glow plugs were the order of the day. Your tractor with manifold heater not a lot different. Try and get your tractor weaned from that ether, it is hard on them. Also if you plan on using get a good block heater before winter. One item you must remember about direct start diesels of the mid to late 1950s they were the pioneers of direct start diesels. Prior to that diesels had been started on gasoline and switched to diesel after warmed up a bit or they were turned over with pup starter engines. These pup starts it was just a case of turning the diesel with a small gas engine until it built up enough heat and compression to fire.
