I replaced the seal on my H lift-all drive shaft on the transmission side a little while ago. When I reinstalled the drive dog on the transmission, I put it back on with a pipewrench ( because I took it off with a pipe wrench, it was on there pretty good). I ran my H for about an hour or so a month ago, I checked it today, the lift-all drive shaft never got tight. I decided to take the drive shaft off, I loosened the drive dog on the transmission with a pipewrench (it was on there a lot harder than I installed it), got it almost off, greased it a little for the seal to ride on and put a little grease on the drive dog threads . Next, put the driveshaft back between the drive dogs. Then I loosened the drive dog on the transmission by hand (by turning the drive shaft) until I got the shaft tight. I was wondering if I should get new drive dogs and a shaft because it wobbled for about an hour of running the tractor (the drive shaft and dogs are shiney on say the 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock positions)? Was it ok to put grease on the drive dog threads? I figured to be able to turn it by hand it needed some lubrication. Will it now self tighten too much into the lift-all drive dog? Thanks!!
